CORNER CABINET
This piece is dear to my heart. It was lovingly painted and lightly grunged. Raised stencils allow for the bottom door panels to remain open for items to be displayed. The original latch-style hardware and hinges were kept as a nod to its original colonial styling. This piece was purchased at an estate sale. The local artist who had owned the house and its belongings was also a family friend. He was the most amazing artist I have ever met. Having worked as a stage designer for many years, he could transform anything ordinary into something truly extraordinary. Each room in his house was a masterpiece. One of his “stone” floors, complete with moss growing between the stones, was actually hand painted plywood. I knelt down to touch it because I just couldn’t believe it wasn’t real. I think about our friend a lot when I paint. Always wishing I could somehow tap into his talent, his inspiration, and his warm sense of humor. He will be missed.
