ZELDA TABLE

As with so many of our pieces, our simple, original ideas can quickly turn into quite involved undertakings. The Zelda table is a perfect example. In 2017, ‘Breath of the Wild’ was released and Zelda had reached its 30th anniversary. When this coffee table came into our shop the decision to make it a piece that celebrated Nintendo’s greatest franchise was unanimous. What began as a simple vision - to recreate the famous concept art of Link peering out at mountains from the 1987 original classic, and to contrast that with the updated look of Link from the 2017’s version - ended up becoming our most ambitious, complicated, yet most rewarding project to date. The images of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf were hand painted on the surface. The scroll work was painted in colors of Link’s Hylian shield, with dark wax and rustic hardware adorning the facade. The entire surface was covered with epoxy and a three-dimensional version of Navi was added to the top for a final touch on this priceless coffee table.
