BLUE BLENDED DRESSER
We faced many victories and many struggles over the years. At times, the struggles could become overwhelming. This cherry dresser was one of them. The layered, blended finish was a victory. No unforeseen issues. No real set backs. Everything went quite smoothly.
The finished dresser was carefully laid on its back and pushed on a furniture dolly to the loading dock door. It would be on its way to the consignment shop early the following morning. The next day I pulled up the garage door, letting the sunshine flood the shop. To my horror, our roof must have leaked from the heavy rains the night before. Nothing was wet anywhere except the face of the dresser which now had drops of black greasy water all over the drawers. I remember crying, and doing calculations in my head of the chances of something like this actually happening. When I was finally finished feeling defeated and sorry for myself, I got to work to clean, touch up, and add another layer of top coat. The dresser was eventually delivered and sold, and the courage to “carry on” returned.
